Wooden "Tile" Picture
Artist Gladys Cook uses a unique method
to create very unusual wall hangings.
They
actually are wood (two sizes: 7" X 11" and 11" X
19") but defy most folks into thinking they are tile. They
look like tile and they feel like tile,
but in reality they are wood.
What attracts us to something that is
so different?
Probably
the desire to have something that
no one else has or perhaps because
it makes a terrific conversation
"I search every day for an unusual scene
to depict, a color that is unique, or just something that appeals
to me and I know will do the same for others. Creating these pieces
brings me much pleasure and satisfaction. My customers make me feel
that I am performing small miracles in my creations and
they show their pieces to others
and thus spread the word about what
I do. I believe that nothing is more
rewarding than a satisfied customer who tells all of their friends
